While your average digital watch probably contains more computing power than the ZXSpectrum, for British people of a certain age the perma-crashing, plastic keyboard wielding, cassette tape adjusting personal computer of their youth retains a mythical charm

If you’re one of them, then the “Recreated ZX Spectrum” from Elite Systems – yes, that Elite Systems, which produced a number of classic Spectrum games back in the day – is most definitely for you.

Essentially, the Recreated Spectrum is a Spectrum-esque bluetooth keyboard for iOS and Android – rubbery keys and all – which you can pair up to your tablet or phone using the Recreated ZX Spectrum app, allowing you to play games and even code in Sinclair BASIC.

Best of all, the app will include “a huge game bundle”, including – saints be praised – legendary egg collecting caper Chuckie Egg.

The Recreated ZX Spectrum will cost around £100. And what, frankly, are you waiting for?
