Just when you think you’ve seen it all, along comes iSperm, an “Innovative boar sperm analyser” for your iPad mini.

“With iSperm, sperm analysis is easier than ever,” manufacturers chirpily claim. The system uses a microscope to enlarge the contents of the porcine semen then beams the image to your iPad camera, with algorithms analysing the sample for sperm count and mobility.

So far, use has been limited to livestock. But – good news! – the company behind iSperm, Taiwanese start up Aidmics, is looking to expand its use to humans.

“In the US, one out of every six couples has trouble conceiving,” the company’s founder, Agean Lin, told Reuters, rubbing his hands with glee.
