We all like to think we’re pretty unique, deep and unfathomable. So it’s somewhat disappointing to find out that there is a new website that can pretty much nail our personalities with a sample of just 100 written words.

Yes, the IBM Watson supercomputer has a new algorithm, the IBM Watson Personality Insights service, which uses “linguistic analytics to extract a spectrum of cognitive and social characteristics from the text data that a person generates through blogs, tweets, forum posts, and more”.

It it any good? Well, we plugged in 161 words from our blog on the Apple Watch and Watson reported back that we were “shrewd, skeptical and tranquil”.

“You are imaginative: you have a wild imagination,” it continued. “You are philosophical: you are open to and intrigued by new ideas and love to explore them. And you are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them.”

Which is all very nice, isn’t it? Accurate? You tell us…
